Admission Policy
St. Nicholas Academy admits students of any race, color, nationality or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students in the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in administration of its education policies, admission, scholarship, athletic or other school administered programs.
"The basic purpose of Catholic schools is to assure that Catholic truths and values are fully integrated with the student's life and academic programs. Students should not apply unless they desire and intend to participate fully in the religious programs of the school." (Policy statement from the Archdiocesan Handbook for elementary Schools)
Children who will be five years of age by October 1 of the current school year are eligible to enter Kindergarten. Children who will be six years of age by October 1 of the current school year are eligible to enter First Grade. Additional considerations for admission are:
- Parish membership status:
- Must be active parishioner
- Must attend parish liturgy on a regular basis
- Must show evidence of time, talent, treasure support to parish
- Siblings currently / previously enrolled in the school
- Previous enrollment at a Catholic school
- Immediate opening in class
- Ability of the program to adequately meet the needs of the student
Students initially entering school need to present birth, baptismal and current immunization certifications, Social Security number and transcripts from previous schools. A pre-registration fee is charged at this time.
Any student admitted to St. Nicholas Academy may, at the discretion of the administration, be admitted on a conditional / probationary basis to be sure the school program meets the needs of the student.
